Apple plant: from seed to plant, how to grow it at home
Growing Your Own Apple Tree: A Step-by-Step Guide
If you have access to a garden or a piece of land where you can nurture a fruit plant, consider trying your hand at growing an apple tree. This process is surprisingly straightforward, and all it requires is harvesting seeds from a ripe apple. Opt for a very ripe apple to increase the likelihood of quick seed germination.
Apple Plant: From Seed to Plant, Home Cultivation Guide
- Harvesting Seeds:Â To begin, take the ripe apple and delicately cut it almost in half. Ensure not to cut through the center entirely. Rotate the apple, and it will naturally split into two parts, keeping the seeds intact. Collect these seeds for the next steps.
- Seed Germination: Take a glass or plastic container and a small cloth napkin. Place the napkin inside the chosen container, deposit the collected seeds, and close the napkin. Spray a generous amount of water using a spray bottle, then seal the container. Position it in a well-lit area of the house, avoiding direct sunlight. After 10 days, check the seeds, and you’ll notice that some have already begun to sprout.
- Potting the Sprouts:Â Take a small pot with a diameter of approximately 10 cm and fill it with fresh soil. Create a hole in the center and plant the seed with the root downwards and the head facing upwards at a depth of about 3 centimeters. Spray the soil generously with water. Position the pot in a well-lit area, avoiding direct sunlight.
- Early Growth: Within two days, you’ll observe the appearance of the seed head. As the days progress, the plant will grow stronger and more visible. After three months, a lush plant will have developed in the pot, reaching a height of about ten centimeters by six months. The seedling needs to grow larger and more robust before grafting.
- Future Fruition:Â With time and care, your apple plant will mature, and in a few years, it will reward you with delicious fruits. Cultivating your own apple tree from seed to fruition is not only rewarding but also a fascinating journey of growth and cultivation.
