Social services are now involved, looking into how the pregnancy went unnoticed by her family and providing support to the young mother. A source quoted in The Sun highlighted the community’s surprise and concern, stating that the girl is now receiving professional care and emphasizing the importance of her and the baby’s wellbeing.
This case surpasses the previous record held by Tressa Middleton, who became Britain’s youngest mother in 2006 at the age of 12, under tragic circumstances involving her brother.The UK also saw a record for the youngest parents in 2014, when a 12-year-old mother and a 13-year-old father had a child.
Medical experts note that while puberty can start as early as 8, it typically begins around 11 for girls, and very young pregnancies come with increased risks such as premature labor and pre-eclampsia.
In another similar case in 2017, an 11-year-old in the UK also gave birth, though few details are available.
