This is something you won’t see anywhere else…

There were a lot of kids back then, which we would call “large” now but not back then. It was the norm. This will not happen very often from now on.

Having kids is still hard, even if you only have one or two.

We now have 1 to 3 kids in most families. It feels like the old times! When our grandparents were kids, they lived with six to ten other kids.

This family from Boston, USA, caught the eye of Leslie Jones, a photographer for the Boston Herald-Traveler magazine, in the 1920s.

The family included a mother, a father, 10 girls, 2 boys, and a baby whose gender is hard to tell from the picture.

It looks like the youngest child, if you don’t count the baby in his mother’s arms, was about four years old when these pictures were taken. The older children were already teenagers.

A lot of kids! They must have had to do a lot of chores around the house, learn to share, and dress more like adults. But it looks like they were able to make their little world a living place.

Parents were likely proud of their children.

How much does it cost to polish all of your shoes? They did things their own way, just like any other family.

In this case, the family had just one car. They found a way for all of the members to fit, though.

It’s not safe, so we hope they only drove this way for short distances. Even though it was different back then and cars weren’t going as fast.

We didn’t talk about car seats for kids back then, of course!

They loved the car, but they also loved the same umbrella… Not really!

They tried, though.

This is a lovely picture to look at. They give a clear picture of how things are in the family.
